Located in the Ladies Mile Historic District, 122 Fifth Avenue was designed by architect Robert Maynicke and completed around 1899. Initially, it served as a store and loft building, defining its surroundings with a stunning Neo-Renaissance style.

Early tenants included mercantile firms, millinery and retail dry goods, book and magazine publishers, and manufacturers of photographic apparatus. The building was also home to early inventors, such as the Air-O-Phone Corporation.

Willy Greenburg, the owner for half a century, allowed artists to sell their paintings in the building and received many pieces of art in lieu of rent. He donated Milton Avery paintings to The Met in the early 1980s.

Bromley Companies acquired the building in 1979 and recently completed a $100 million renovation. The project transformed the 11-story building into modern office space while preserving its historic façade.

The renovation included the addition of a rooftop terrace and pavilion, along with amenities like bike storage and a coffee shop. The building now offers 300,000 square feet of office space, blending contemporary design with historical sensitivity.
