In 2016, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved a proposal for their conversion back to commercial use, which included removing non-original fire escapes, extending the rear of 61 Crosby Street, and adding a fifth floor with a terrace.

The project involved restoring the brownstone facade, adding new wood and glass storefronts, and installing a lead-coated copper rooftop addition.
