The General Motors Building, located at 767 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, New York City, has a rich history. It was constructed between 1964 and 1968 during the height of the International Modernism architectural era. The building replaced the elegant Savoy-Plaza Hotel, which had stood on the site since 1927. The building is a 50-story, 705-foot office tower situated at the southeast corner of Central Park. Its facade features vertical piers of white Georgia marble alternating with strips of glass. Initially, General Motors occupied part of the building, while the rest was leased to other tenants. Over the years, the building has undergone significant changes, including renovations and changes in ownership.

In 2003, Harry Macklowe purchased the building and later transformed its plaza into the iconic Apple Fifth Avenue store, which opened in 2006. The building has been owned by a joint venture of Boston Properties, Zhang Xin, and the Safra banking family since 2008.
